Let’s discard the works of the writers of the Gospel - big leap of faith. So shall we also deny the Epistles? The letters written by St. Paul, Peter, James, and John about a man named Jesus whom they all believed to be the Messiah. John and Peter were friends of Jesus who didn’t exist. James was his cousin of this Jesus who didn’t exist.
Another leap of faith, what about Flavius Josephus, a Roman collaborator who betrayed the Jewish revolt of 70 A.D? He wrote about Jesus. He said that Jesus lived and had followers. He also said that Jesus was a wise man, a healer and that he rose again. The Jesus deniers say that Josephus was a Christian. If Josephus was a Christian, why did he participate in the armed revolt against the Romans? In the text, Josephus identified himself as with those who condemned Jesus. He does not call himself a Christian for to do so at that time would effectively renounce his membership to Judaism and his political career. But let’s take that leap of faith shall we?
